One Time Activities - Make a Difference...

How do you make a difference as a volunteer? There is virtually an activity for everyone -- one that matches your interests and the time you can spend.  Here are some "one time" activities that are great for individuals, families, and groups...

Wheeler Farm Activities

Wheeler FarmhouseWheeler Farm is a 19th century "working farm" which has activities all through the year! These are suitable for individuals, families, and groups. Examples of volunteer "jobs" include working at the general store, or helping as a ranch-hand. Our volunteers make it possible to provide a variety of affordable activities for the community to enjoy.

Utah's Refugee Resettlement Agencies... Help welcome new Refugee families to Utah.

Teaching a Refugee English

Empower our community by volunteering to assist Utah’s refugee and immigrant population.

If you love meeting new people and you can speak English, then you can partake in making a genuine difference in someone’s life.  The English Skills Learning Center is currently recruiting volunteers to tutor adult refugees and immigrants who have a strong desire to learn English.

Make a one-time commitment and get involved by tutoring an individual, class or assisting a student towards his or her citizenship!

Family holding handsHere are tangible ways to help the Resettlement Agencies in helping Refugee families adjust to their new home in Utah.

These families need gently-used furnishings and household items. If you'd like to donate, the agencies request that your donations be packaged, and labled according to type and number of contents. Please deliver the packaged items to:

Help our Animal Friends!

Dog & Cat TogetherIf you love animals, you can be part of this momentous opportunity to help our community’s orphaned animals now... and for decades to come.

We would love to have a volunteer who could coordinate deliveries of pet-food portions for pets of home-bound seniors. These special "pet meals" will be delivered to senior pet owners who receive Meals on Wheels.

Volunteers are always needed at our center - walk dogs, answer phones, play with the cats, clean, help with laundry, etc.

"Project Blanket"- Blankets for the Homeless

Blanket"The Road Home," shelters approximately 800 people each night form Nov. 1 to April 1, and uses almost 10,000 blankets to cope with the winter weather. Frequent washing and a harsh environment take a toll the blankets. The shelter depends on annual drives like ours to fulfill the need. Each year The Road Home gets 400 to 600 wool blankets through the generosity of the many supporters of Project Blanket.

We thank you for nine successful years. Project Blanket is simply a human appeal -- "ONE BLANKET -- ONE WARM BODY -- ONE LIFE SAVED." Each blanket costs approximately $15. 100% of your contribution goes to purchase the blankets.

Make a check payable to;
"The Road Home - Project Blanket" and mail it to:

Karing for Utah Kids

Utah Kids logoWe need help from anyone who can work from home and assist us in making blankets and hug-a-bears. Throughout the year, children in trauma or with life-threatening illnesses receive the blankets and bears, to help them through difficult times. This is a great year-long project for groups or individuals. Work at you own speed, and make as many or as few as you want.

If needed, we will help with the costs of the material, pick up, or help with shipping charges. We will give instructions on what is required for making of the bears. Blankets can be any size, but we have one group making crib blankets all year long, so we prefer full or larger sizes. Bears and blankets are also given out during our annual Saturday with Santa event in December for children with cancer, diabetes and trauma.

Thanks so much for your consideration!
