SOUTH VALLEY SANCTUARY
South Valley Sanctuary needs volunteers to help maintain, clean, and organize the shelter. Volunteers in this category will have little supervised interaction with residents, and no unsupervised interaction. Background Check is required.
- Intern Advocate
After the appropriate training, this volunteer will be helping the advocate on shift with general duties. This includes answering hotline calls, cleaning, organizing, and maintaining the shelter, providing residents with needs, conducting intake, and other miscellaneous duties. Background check and twenty-four hours of formal domestic violence training is required. - Children’s Learning Center Volunteer
South Valley Sanctuary has a 40 hour, free children’s center for our residents. The volunteer will help CLC staff with general duties that may take place in a day care center; however, we provide additional educational services such as nonviolent communication and play, encouragement of self-esteem, culturally sensitive curriculum and education, and parental guidance. Background Check and twenty-four hours of formal domestic violence training is required.

Conversation Club...
We have initiated a conversation club for learners of all language backgrounds. We need lots of volunteers to man tables where students can participate in varying degrees of spontaneous conversation. Students and volunteers play word games, utilize magazines, newspapers and theme packets to inspire conversation, or sometimes just sit and talk about what strikes their fancy. The only requirements of the volunteers are good listening skills, the ability to speak SLOWLY and CLEARLY, patience and a sense of humor. No foreign language skills are necessary since only English is permitted. Bring your own conversation starters if you wish!
Conversation Club times are Mondays through Thursdays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. If you're interested in getting involved in a great project, please email bunnie@inglesparalatinos.org and put "Conversation Club" in the subject line.
Other volunteer positions and activities (and other days/times) are available. Please visit our website for details:
