Description: The Salt Lake Sheriff's Office
Victim Advocate Program provides services to victim's of crime against
person's. Our goal is to provide practical support through the
judicial system as well as community resource referrals to the victims of
crime. We strive to empower victims, helping them to become independent and
self-reliant.
Volunteers are a integral part of the victim advocate
program. Volunteers perform similar duties to that of a full time victim
advocate.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Responsibilities include: Making calls to victims of crime to follow up on
police reports, serving as a crises advocate, attending protective order
hearings and performing other court related duties. Volunteers may work as a
liaison between victims and prosecutors, police, detectives, and district
justice courts, or simply providing a listening ear to someone who is
suffering as a result of a crime.
Volunteer Requirements:
* Volunteer between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. with possible
flexibility.
* No previous experience necessary.
* A genuine wish to help people in a state of chaos, empathize but
allow people to make their own decisions.
