Senior Centers http//:www.slcoagingservices.org/html/senior.html
Description
The purpose of senior centers is to provide older adults with an environment
where they can continue to stay active physically, mentally, and emotionally
through experiences which help them learn, grow, and achieve. Senior Centers
offer a wide variety of educational and recreational programs and services.
Depending on which center one attends, activities may include square or ballroom
dancing, yoga and aerobics classes, games, swimming, bowling or computer courses.
Centers also offer their customers a nutritious hot lunch on weekdays.
Program Coordinator
Each center has their own program coordinator. Please contact the center of
your choice and ask for the volunteer coordinator.
Volunteer Opportunities
Because programs and volunteer opportunities vary from center to center, please
contact the senior center of your choice for more details about ideas and opportunities
for volunteering. Many centers are able to utilize groups or families
for special events or programs, particularly around holidays, or allow volunteers
themselves to initiate programs or activities in which they may have a particular
interest or expertise.
