Search and Rescue

Description
The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Search and Rescue Team assists law enforcement
officials on rescue missions throughout the Intermountain West. Each year
the team is called out dozens of times to help find people who are missing,
rescue people injured in hiking or skiing accidents, or locate people caught
in avalanches. Team members also conduct educational seminars on injury
prevention and first aid. They also represent the Sheriff's Office at
community events and parades.

Training & Support
Each team member receives a minimum of 332 hours of training and receives certification
as an emergency medical technician. In addition to the basic training,
all team members participate in specialized training to learn various public
education and rescue techniques.
