Chaplain Corps
Description
Salt Lake County Sheriff's Chaplain Corps consists of ministers and chaplains
who represent most religious denominations found in the Salt Lake metropolitan
areas. Volunteers are trained to provide spiritual services in an ecumenical
way without expounding their own beliefs or religious ideas. They offer
counseling, bring consolation and spiritual solace to people who have been victimized
by acts of violence, crime, death and other crises, and help them deal with
their pain and anger in constructive ways. Some volunteers extend their
service to the Metropolitan Jail, Sheriff's Office and Salt Lake City Police
Department employees and their families.
