Description The Alternatives Program
provides help to frail and disabled residents of Salt Lake County 18 years
and older who require help to remain living independently at home. Paid
services include case management assessment, home health care, homemaking,
emergency systems and respite for stressed caregivers.

Volunteer Opportunities
The variety of opportunities available depends on current client needs. The
type of help volunteers can provide includes but is not limited to:
Visiting, Reading, Light Housework, Picking up RX/Errands/Grocery
Shopping/Yard Work/Snow Removal, Cooking, Filing/Office-Type Duties,
Sewing/Mending, Home Repairs.
Volunteer Requirements
* 18 years of age or older
* Pass a background check
* If providing transportation:
posses a current Utah Class "D" drivers license,
personal insurance as required by the State of Utah
reliable vehicle with current registration and inspection
clean driving record
completion of Defensive Driving Course (class provided through Salt Lake
County
free of charge)
Training & Support The Alternatives
Program provides orientation on a personal basis dependent on what duty(s)
will be performed. On site training will be provided.
